Era il lontano 16 giugno 2003 quando i The Black Eyed Peas, il gruppo hip hop/dance statunitense capitanato da will.i.am, pubblicò la strepitosa hit “Where Is The Love?“, primo singolo estratto dal terzo album Elephunk. Ve la ricordate? Quel pezzo primeggiò praticamente il tutto il globo ed a tredici anni di distanza, il gruppo ce lo ripropone in una nuovissima versione battezzata #Wheresthelove (feat. The World), che è completamente differente rispetto alla prima.
Dopo ben 5 anni di assenza, la band si riunisce per un atto di beneficenza, in quanto il ricavato dalle vendite negli States, verrà devoluto alla Fondazione senza scopo di lucro “i.am.angel.” fondata nel 2009 da Will I Am.
In rotazione radiofonica dal 9 settembre, la significativa canzone è palesemente contro la guerra, l’odio ed il razzismo, ed ha lo scopo di omaggiare le vittime dei conflitti, quelle degli attentati terroristici ed i bambini che soffrono.
A collaborare per la nuova versione del singolo, troviamo tra gli altri Mary J. Blige, Andra Day, Nicole Scherzinger, Tori Kelly, Jessie J, Game, Ty Dolla $ign, DJ Khaled, Usher, Nicole Scherzinger, Justin Timberlake, A$AP Rocky, Jaden Smith, V. Boseman, French Montana, Vanessa Hudgens, Diddy, Snoop Dogg ed altri, tutti insieme per una nobile causa.
Nello straziante video ufficiale rigorosamente in bianco e nero, oltre alle facce seriose e tristi degli artisti, vediamo anche immagini piuttosto crude, come quella che ha fatto il giro del mondo, relativa ad Alan Kurdi, il povero bimbo siriano morto sulla spiaggia di Bobrum.
