Honest Town è il titolo del primo singolo dei Simple Minds estratto da Big Music, sedicesimo disco registrato in studio dal gruppo rock scozzese pubblicato il 4 novembre 2014 per Sony Music. Ecco la cover del brano.
Big Music è un’opera dal piglio deciso, che unisce sonorità briose con alcuni dei testi più personali che Jim abbia mai scritto, un album che rende giustizia alla gloriosa storia dei Simple Mind.
Il momento più toccante dell’intero disco è rappresentato proprio da questa canzone, in rotazione radiofonica in Italia dallo scorso 10 ottobre, data dalla quale è anche disponibile in download digitale.
Honest Town è un brano struggente ispirato al ricordo della madre di Jim Kerr, scomparsa circa quattro anni fa.
L’inedito è stato scritto insieme a Iain Cook dei Chvrches, ed è una sorta di diario di viaggio tra sogno e realtà, attraverso i luoghi della South Side di Glasgow, che hanno contraddistinto l’infanzia di Kerr, fondatore della band.
