Da giugno 2020 viene trasmesso lo spot Diesel, un cortometraggio che in due minuti ci mostra la storia di Francesca, una persona nata uomo che dopo aver capito di riconoscersi come donna, riesce a realizzare il suo più grande sogno: entrare in un convento e farsi suora. Chi è costei? Qual è il titolo del brano? Vai direttamente al video.
E’ sinteticamente questo, ciò che si vede nel filmato diretto da François Rousselet e realizzato con la consulenza di Diversity, associazione Italiana nata allo scopo di promuovere l’inclusione sociale. Per ragioni che vi lascio immaginare, non sono mancate le polemiche: il Giornale di Vicenza ad esempio, l’ha definito “pugni nello stomaco che ti bloccano la digestione e ti costringono a riflettere, anche se dal punto di vista artistico è una bomba che potrebbe persino essere proiettata a un festival e vincere pure un premio“.
Ma chi è Francesca, la modella-attrice dello spot?
L’attrice della campagna è la 23enne Harlow Monroe, modella per Dior, Valentino e Gucci. Lei ha vissuto a Calgary, in Canada, fino all’età di 16 anni, quando ha cominciato a indossare gli abiti da transgender.

In the Pines (il testo e l’audio), nota anche con i titoli Black Girl e Where Did You Sleep Last Night? (testo e l’audio), brano tradizionale di musica folk statunitense composto probabilmente nel 1870. L’identità dell’autore è sconosciuta.
La canzone viene maggiormente associata con il bluesman americano Lead Belly, che negli anni ’40 ne incise alcune versioni, e con il musicista bluegrass Bill Monroe, che aiutò a diffondere il brano a livello popolare negli anni cinquanta.
Svariati artisti di svariati generi musicali hanno eseguito questo pezzo, reso molto popolare dai Nirvana con il titolo “Where Did You Sleep Last Night?”, racchiuso nell’album MTV Unplugged in New York (1994). Dall’inizio degli anni ’90, il gruppo eseguiva sporadicamente la canzone durante i live. Per la sua interpretazione del brano, il cantante e chitarrista Kurt Cobain, fece riferimento alla versione della canzone eseguita da Lead Belly nel 1944.
La versione dello spot, altro non è che una bella cover con voce femminile realizzata da Sizzer Music, agenzia operante a livello internazionale, con uffici ad Amsterdam e Berlino, specializzata nel trovare soluzioni musicali per i brands.
