All About That Bass è il singolo d’esordio di Meghan Trainor, della cantautrice, musicista e produttrice statunitense Meghan Elizabeth Trainor.

Pubblicato dalla Epic Records nel giugno 2014, il brano è stato scritto a quattro mani dalla Trainor con il cantautore, producer, ingegnere del suono e strumentista americano Kevin Kadish, che l’ha anche prodotto.

All About That Bass è una canzone che è riuscita a togliere Nicki Minaj ed il suo “Anaconda”, dalla vetta della classifica iTunes America.

Si tratta di un pezzo pop decisamente orecchiabile e contagioso, che incita ad accettare se stessi ed il proprio corpo con il messaggio “Sono qui per dirti che ogni centimetro di te è perfetto, dalla testa ai piedi, ogni centimetro di te è perfetto, gli uomini in fondo preferiscono le ragazze un po’ in carne“. Un inizio alla Colbie Caillat per intenderci, che con Try osannava la bellezza e le forme femminili, invitando ad accettarsi per quel che si è. Non a caso via social network, la Caillat ha twittato elogiando brano.

Come per ogni hit che si rispetti, oltre gli elogi non sono mancate le polemiche, in quanto la canzone menziona le ragazze tropo magre, ma la Trainor respinge le accuse spiegando di essere consapevole del fatto che vi siano persone che lottano contro la magrezza ma anche contro l’obesità.
