It was always you è un nuovo brano dei Maroon 5, che sarà incluso nel nuovo disco V, che vedrà la luce in Italia il 2 settembre 2014. Dovrebbe trattarsi del secondo singolo estratto dal nuovo album, e fa seguito al precedente Maps.
La canzone è stata scritta dal leader Adam Levine con la collaborazione di Sam Martin, Jason Evigan, Marcus Lomax, Jordan Johnson e Stefan Johnson, mentre la produzione è stata affidata a Jason Evigan e The Monsters and the Strangerz.
Questo pezzo è completamente differente rispetto al materiale rilasciato in precedenza dalla band, e devo dire che il sound un pò retrò è decisamente convincente (ricorda il pop-rock anni ’80).
Pubblicato su iTunes USA poche ore fa, It was always you è indubbiamente meno radio friendly rispetto al precedente Maps, che nel giro di pochi giorni è entrato nella top ten di tante classifiche mondiali.
