Up We Go è il nuovo singolo di Lights Bokan al secolo Valerie Anne Poxleitner, musicista, cantante e cantautrice canadese. Si tratta del primo singolo estratto dall’album Little Machines, suo terzo disco in studio che sarà rilasciato il prossimo 23 settembre via Warner Brothers Records e che farà seguito a “The Listening” del 2009 e “Siberia” del 2011.
Anche se al momento stenta a decollare, questa canzone è davvero una potenziale hit di successo, che non ha nulla da invidiare alla concorrenza.
Il brano è decisamente orecchiabile e radio friendly, con un ritornello che entra subito nella testa dell’ascoltatore. E’ metaforico il significato della canzone, che simboleggia una risalita dopo un lungo periodo difficile, come spiegato dall’interprete stessa “Mi piace pensare che “Up We Go” sia un inno per quella sensazione di liberazione che sperimentiamo dopo un brutto momento. Ci sono volute un sacco di riprese per rendere questo video così ambizioso un successo. Durante il tentativo di coreografare la band, gli extra, i fan che abbiamo portato, gli spostamenti del set, la gente dietro la macchina da presa e la mia performance ci sono stati momenti ho pensato che sarebbe stato impossibile. Ma tutti hanno spaccato“.
Decisamente divertente, convincente e virale il video ufficiale disponibile dallo scorso 3 settembre. Il filmato è stato diretto da Alon Isocianu e le immagini mostrano la cantante classe 1987 affrontare un bizzarro viaggio all’interno di un ascensore in compagnia di personaggi stravaganti, nel quale succede un pò di tutto. L’ascensore tuttavia non è reale…
