Speed Of Light (velocità della luce) è il primo singolo degli Iron Maiden estratto da The Book of Souls, sedicesimo album in studio della storica band heavy metal britannica, che sarà pubblicato il 4 settembre 2015 nella versione digitale e CD. Il formato fisico dell’opera, registrata a Parigi nel 2014 e prodotta da Kevin Shirley, propone esattamente due dischi contenenti rispettivamente 6 e 5 tracce (qui la tracklist). Si tratta del primo doppio album del gruppo a contenere materiale esclusivamente inedito, il primo dai tempi di Powerslave (1984) a presentare due brani interamente composti dal cantante Bruce Dickinson, al quale lo scorso dicembre, era stato diagnosticato un tumore alla lingua, che fortunatamente è riuscito a debellare.
Il brano Speed Of Light, è stato scritto da Adrian Smith e Dickinson e dura poco più di cinque minuti.
L’inedito è accompagnato dal video ufficiale senza troppe pretese, reso disponibile su Youtube il 14 agosto scorso. Il filmato è stato diretto e prodotto da Llexi Leon per The Brewery e mostra immagini di un videogame, che testimonia la passione per i videogiochi del gruppo londinese.
