Dal 22 gennaio è disponibile Mother Tongue, quarto singolo dei Bring Me The Horizon estratto dal sesto album in studio Amo, che verrà rilasciato il 25 gennaio 2019.
Il brano in questione è completamente differente dal precedente “Medicine“, dove Oliver Sykes parlava di relazioni distruttive, con chiari riferimenti all’ex moglie Hannah Snowdon, dalla quale divorziò nel 2016.
Qui siamo invece davanti a una canzone d’amore dedicata a Alissa Salls, modella brasiliana sposatasi con Oliver il 22 luglio 2017. La “madrelingua” portoghese Salls, è una figura importante nell’insieme del nuovo album, perché Amo è un concept album sull’amore e Sykes è pazzamente innamorato di Alissa. Quando i due si conobbero ebbero qualche difficoltà di comunicazione perché lei non sapeva parlare bene l’inglese e lui il portoghese, ma nonostante questo tra i due nacque una connessione davvero forte, che culminò nel matrimonio.
